Head, Neck, Jaw, Intraoral Endorsement

Manual therapy techniques inside the oral cavity are extremely valuable when working with clients with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction, headaches, whiplash and a host of other issues. Washington State now authorizes licensed massage practitioners to use intraoral massage techniques, provided those practitioners have an Intraoral Endorsement on their massage license. A specific 16-hour intraoral education requirement must be met by LMPs in order to apply to the WA Health Department and Massage Board for the endorsement.

Successful completion of this class satisfies the

Washington State intraoral education requirements.

This workshop presents and in-depth look at the neck, jaw, cranium and oral cavity, including plenty of hands-on techniques. Hands-on work will be integrated with clear anatomy and palpation skills, so that you can effectively and confidently work with clients in your day-to-day practice. Our focus will be to provide a clear and confident basis for performing intraoral manual therapy with your clients.

In this class we will:

• Delve into this fascinating area of the body, drawing on the experience of the instructor and incorporating the collective insights of the class participants.
• Review anatomy, physiology and kinesiology of the oral cavity, TMJ, cranium, neck and many related structures.
• Explore a variety of hands-on bodywork techniques for working inside the oral cavity, as well as balancing related structures outside the oral cavity. Techniques will be drawn from craniosacral therapy, neuromuscular therapy, positional release and more, and will be tailored to the needs and experience of the class participants.
• Learn intraoral hygienic practices, safety and sanitation, pathology and contraindications.

About DAVE CAMPBELL, BA,LMP,CTP

Dave Campbell is a licensed massage practitioner and an instructor of kinesiology and cadaver anatomy at the Spectrum Center School of Massage in Lake Stevens, WA since 2001. He has been in practice for over 20 years and has an enduring fascination with the intricacies of the human body, mind, and spirit. Dave maintains a full-time practice in Bellingham, WA, specializing in Trager Work and Craniosacral Therapy, augmented by a variety of other gentle neuromusculoskeletal release techniques.

Dave is the author and illustrator of the book Mastering Muscles & Movement: A Brain-Friendly System for Learning Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Kinesiology. He holds a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of California and is a certified Trager® practitioner. A former key engineer at the Fairchild Research Labs in Palo Alto, CA, Dave developed his brain-friendly approach to teaching muscles and movement based on years of experience in the study of human perception, artificial intelligence, and graphic representation of scientific information.
